Industrial Production Marketplace

The idea of the Smart Factory Web is to provide a marketplace for industrial production that mediates between production orders and registered factory assets and capabilities.

Search of Smart Factories

Our industrial marketplace offers an intelligent search for factories, products, production capacities and capabilities.

Factory-To-Factory Interoperability

Factory-to-factory interoperability with the industrial standards OPC-UA and AutomationML.

Flexible Adaptation Of Production Capabilities

Flexible adaptation of production capabilities and sharing of resources/assets in a web of Smart Factories to improve order fulfillment.

Flexible Allocation Of Production Resources

Provide the technical basis for new business models with flexible assignment of production resources across factory locations.

Supply Chain Management

The Smart Factory Web enables the modeling and visualization of supply chains and entire supply networks. The transparent presentation of the entire supply network is the prerequisite for risk management, the basis for checking sustainability criteria and fair trade principles.

Industrie 4.0 Technologies

Use of technologies of the Platform Industrie 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

The following technologies are used in the Smart Factory Web:

Standardized description of factory plant data using the open standard AutomationML (Automation Markup Language).

Use of OPC Unified Architecture (OPC UA) as platform-independent, service-oriented architecture.

Asset Administration Shell

Standardized digital representation of assets using the Asset Administration Shell (AAS).

Sensor Things API

SensorThings API (OGC standard) to provide an open and consistent framework for connecting IoT sensor devices.

International Data Spaces

Integration of International Data Spaces (IDS) technology to enable secure and trusted data exchange in business ecosystems.

Secure Plug & Work

Enable cross-site usage scenarios with secure Plug & Work functions and data analytics.

Fill The Following Form To Call For Collaboration

The collaboration between Fraunhofer IOSB, KETI, Microsoft and SAP advances the international usage of standards and architecture patterns for IIoT systems. Benefits are expected for data and service integration and advanced plug & work, both fundamental for smart factories.

Paper "Smart Factory Web—A Blueprint Architecture for Open Marketplaces for Industrial Production" published by MDPI on July 17, 2021
The paper describes a reference architecture for open marketplaces to be used for networked stakeholders in industrial production ecosystems. The motivation for such an endeavor comes from the idea to apply the basic principle of the platform economy to offer functions of an asset "as a service" to industrial production, including the associated supply chain networks.
White Paper "Usage of Standards in the Smart Factory Web Testbed" published by IIC on June 29, 2020
This recently approved IIC White Paper authored by the Smart Factory Web Testbed team describes the Smart Factory Web architecture and how the three main standards OPC UA, AutomationML and SensorThings API are applied in the testbed.
